Arrest at Auto Lot for Attempted Theft

Date: 01.11.20     Metro Area: El Paso, TX

When the Eyewitness monitoring center observed two individuals walking between inventory vehicles towards the back of a dealership, alarms were raised. As they appeared to be tampering with the vehicles, police were dispatched on a possible theft in progress.

As police arrived, one of the subjects fled. Officers, though, did observe one of the individuals holding an unspecified metal item in their hand. The trespasser was placed under arrest at that time for attempted theft.

Intrusive Shopping Center Loiterers Led Away

Date: 01.12.20     Metro Area: Tampa, FL

Two individuals were observed loitering near the dumpster on the property of a monitored shopping center. One of the individuals ended up exiting the site, but the other appeared to lay down with a blanket. The individual was not leaving after audio instructions, so police were dispatched.

While police were on the way, the individual who had walked off the property initially was seen returning to the area and meeting with the individual that had lain down, and they continued to loiter.

Soon, five more individuals walked onto the property and met with the other two subjects. Two individuals ended up walking off the lot, while the other five continued loitering.

Police arrived and made contact with the subjects. Upon their arrival, two of the individuals walked off the property, then the remaining three packed up their items and left the property with the officers leading the way.

Criminals Arrested for Breaking & Entering Before Losses

Date: 01.12.20    Metro Area: New York, NY

An Eyewitness Remote Surveillance Professional (RSP) observed two individuals (that had been run off in a previous incident that night) arrive back on the dealership property. The individuals were again addressed by audio as police were dispatched. While on the phone with dispatch, one of the individuals was seen inside the building, while the other acted as a lookout for the police. As police arrived, he took off running.

Shortly after, the subject inside the building tried to exit through the same area that police were already located. He saw them and ran to the opposite end of the lot, where he jumped the fence and headed off to the road. Dispatch was advised of the individual’s direction of travel.

Officers called to get information and video on the incident – and to confirm that both criminals had been arrested!

Wheel Theft Thwarted

Date: 01.15.20    Metro Area: Memphis, TN

Eyewitness alarms were received showing a male subject creeping between vehicles on the back side of a dealership property. He was observed carrying a lug wrench with him, so audio was immediately used and police were dispatched.

The subject was observed behind a black SUV and it appeared he was attempting to remove the wheels. This information was relayed to police as Eyewitness remained on the line, providing directions to where the subject was located.

As officers arrived, the subject took notice and was able to flee back out of the area, abandoning his attempts at theft. Responding officers did locate the lug wrench lying on the ground near the SUV, meaning he had indeed been trying to steal the wheels but failed due to alarms raised and police dispatched.
